Description
TOUR HIGHLIGHTS: Sunset * Architecture * Reflections * Color * Christian Science Center * Street Photography
TOUR DESCRIPTION: This tour focuses on the historic Christian Science Plaza in downtown Boston, a designated landmark for its unique range of architectural styles. Before sunset, we will scout ideal locations around the plaza and zero in on unique spots that will produce the best images as subject or backdrop. A social hub, this plaza offers a great opportunity to take candid shots of people in a photo friendly environment. A beautiful water fountain also adds a great foreground or background compositional element that we will incorporate into the evening shoot. In addition, many of the iconic towers that make up the Boston Skyline can been seen from the plaza grounds and we'll talk about different techniques to incorporate them into your photographs.
LENGTH: 3 hours (meet 1/2 hour before sunset. Times will be sent ahead of the tour date.)
TRANSPORTATION: This is a walking tour
SUGGESTED EQUIPMENT AND EXPERTISE:
DSLR camera with full manual function, tripod, wide angle lens (24mm or 35mm) or 24-70mm telephoto.
Working knowledge of ISO, F-stop and aperture are necessary. Also, participants should have an understanding of how to change the metering mode on their camera prior to the tour.
PHOTOGRAPHIC FOCUS: In addition to composition, I'll coach you on the importance of timing to optimize your use of ambient light, how to use various metering modes, and how to use the histogram. I will also cover the importance of the manual functions to produce the best quality image possible.
Because of the variability of light, some minor post-processing may be needed to bring your photos to their optimal potential.
If there's interest, I would be happy to hold a basic workshop on post-processing on another date. Pricing depending on the number of people in the group.
STRENUOUSNESS: Not strenuous
MIN # OF PARTICIPANTS: 4
(reimbursements will be made if we do not reach that minimum 5 days prior to the tour date)
MAX # OF PARTICIPANTS: 8
CANCELLATION: Tour can be cancelled by the attendee for a full refund up to 10 days prior to the event. This is an outdoor tour, which is dependent on weather. We will not be able to take photos in rain or snow, but will provide a rain date close to the scheduled event. In case of tour cancellation or rescheduling, a refund can be issued.
